Subscription & Cancellation Policy — New Draft

The planned rules for Digital, Print, Digital + Print, and Platinum subscriptions, including renewals, account changes, delivery, and access.

Private pre-launch draftLegal review required
Draft status: Prices, billing cadence, enrollment dates, renewal notices, cancellation timing, and refund treatment are not final. This policy must match the configured WooCommerce products and applicable law before checkout opens.

Plans and included benefits

Each checkout offer should identify its format, billing schedule, included benefits, shipping treatment, access duration, and any platform requirements. Benefits shown for Platinum remain planned until technically verified.

Recurring authorization

Before purchase, the checkout must state whether the plan renews automatically, the amount and frequency, the first and next charge dates, and how to cancel. Enrollment should require clear affirmative agreement to the recurring terms.

Renewals and notices

Renewal charges should use the payment method on file unless updated. The final notice schedule must reflect the selected payment gateway, WooCommerce configuration, product cadence, and applicable requirements.

Cancellation

Members should be able to cancel through My Account or a clearly stated support method. The final policy must state the cancellation cutoff, effective date, continued access through a paid period, and treatment of a renewal already in process.

Upgrades, downgrades, and plan changes

Rules for switching tiers should explain proration, replacement subscription records, shipping changes, digital access changes, and the effective date. These rules must be tested with the selected WooCommerce Subscriptions settings.

Failed or expired payments

Failed payments may trigger notices, retry attempts, temporary account holds, or eventual suspension. The number and timing of retries, grace periods, and access changes must be configured and disclosed.

Price or benefit changes

Alt-Well should provide advance notice of material price, renewal, or benefit changes when required. The final policy should explain whether changes apply immediately, at the next renewal, or only to new enrollments.

Print delivery

Print plans require an accurate deliverable address. Address-change deadlines, shipping regions, delivery estimates, returned-mail handling, and replacement rules belong in the Shipping & Magazine Delivery Policy.

Digital and Platinum access

Access should follow active subscription and membership status. The final policy must define archive access, download rights, account sharing, usage limits, access after cancellation, and third-party platform dependencies.

Promotions and trials

Any introductory price, coupon, gift, or trial must state eligibility, duration, conversion price, renewal behavior, restrictions, and cancellation method before enrollment.

Before launch: insert the confirmed prices, frequencies, notice schedule, cancellation cutoff, refund rules, and support contact.
